Cancelling download/upload

Hi. Everything is working fine, but I'm wondering why it doesn't immediately stop the transfer when you cancel an upload/download. It actually continues for several minutes afterwards, decreasing the transfer rate. I can't even shut the program down, and have to kill it in Task Manager just to stop it.

Is there some setting I should look at or something?

Please attach a full session log file showing the problem (using the latest version of WinSCP).

To generate the session log file, enable logging, log in to your server and do the operation and only the operation that causes the error. Submit the log with your post as an attachment. Note that passwords and passphrases not stored in the log. You may want to remove other data you consider sensitive though, such as host names, IP addresses, account names or file names (unless they are relevant to the problem). If you do not want to post the log publicly, you can mark the attachment as private.

cancelling never worked for me in any version of winscp. any transfer cancel must be done via the task manager.

the log of unable to cancel upload

The log is here. It says the transfer was aborted and all went well. But in reality, the transfer went on (verified by the target file size) and always on top box showing the progress-bar remained there, showing perfectly normal rate and progress, just like i never clicked cancel. Eventually ctrl-alt-del came to the rescue.

Btw... i opened another thread on this forum, and at first i was able to find it using forum->search->my name. I can no longer do that. Eventually i figured the right keywords, found it and bookmarked it, just wondering why the search works this way. I also found this thread using search->my name.

Thanks for the log.

You wrote that "Eventually ctrl-alt-del came to the rescue". I do not see that in the log. Are you claiming that at the time the log shows WinSCP being idle (21:02:27 and later), the GUI was actually still uploading the files?

If that's the case: I have sent you an email with a debug version of WinSCP to the address you have used to register on this forum. Please follow the instructions in the email.
