WinSCP not able to preserve file permission when transfer files from Win (local) to Linux (remote)
I am using WinSCP v 5.19.5, but I think this problem I am have should not a new issue.
When I transfer a local file on Windows 10 with permission as rwx-r-xr-x to remote Linux host, the file permission becomes rw-r--r--.
So I checked settings in Options->Preferences->Transfer->Edit->UploadOptions->SetPermissions:
this box is UNchecked. Obviously this means leave the file permission alone and don't change it. But it does NOT work. Interestingly, This option box has a greyed out text of "wr-r--r--(+x)" which obviously been used by the WinSCP to set the permission on the remote computer. To confirm my observation, I changed it to "wrxr-xr-x", but still kept the box UNchecked, the file on the remote system got his new permission "wrxr-xr-x"!!!
This is obviously a bug – WinSCP is supposed to ignore any thing in the box when unchecked, but it still used it to set remote file permission.
Any idea what is going on, how to fix it, or is there a version that does not have this problem?
