WinSCP and PSFTP

Does WinSCP use any of the same engine as PSFTP? My question/concern is that I am currently working on a system that is using PSFTP to get data securely from a remote server. The process is scripted and runs daily.

As of late we have FREQUENTLY been getting the following error(s):
error while reading: received a short buffer from FXP_READ, but not at EOF
I can re-run the script an hour later and it may (or may not) work properly. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the failure (from our end).

This error is a "Known" bug in PSFTP, but I have not been able to find a solution or work around. It was suggested that I try a different client that's why I am looking at WinSCP. It seems to have features that are needed for our efforts. I seem to recall seeing somewhere a reference to WinSCP using PSFTP (or it might have been referencing that it's "LIKE" PSFTP). I just need to confirm. I don't want to put the effort into using something like WinSCP to run into the same issues again.

Any insight, feedback or suggestions are appreciated.

Re: WinSCP and PSFTP

No WinSCP does not use PSFTP for SFTP implementation.

Please post a full log file showing the problem.

To generate log file, enable logging, log in to your server and do the operation and only the operation that causes the error. For posting extensive logs you may use pastebin or similar application. Note that passwords and passphrases not stored in the log. You may want to remove other data you consider sensitive though, such as host names, IP addresses, account names or file names (unless they are relevant to the problem). If you do not want to post the log publicly, you may email it to me. You will find my address (if you log in) in my forum profile. Please include link back to this topic in your email. Also note in this topic that you have emailed the log.

Re: WinSCP and PSFTP

prikryl,

Thanks for the response. At this point in time, I don't believe posting a log would be appropriate, as any log data I have is from PSFTP which is why I asked the question. I am looking to change implementation due to a known (but not as of yet resolved) bug in PSFTP causing an FXP_READ error on short buffers. It's causing quite a headache for us.

I appreciate your assistance though, and if we chose to implement the WinSCP as the alternative, I will be sure to let you know how it works out.
