error when use FTP and error when cahnge text inner a file

1st question

if I am connect how SCP or SFTP, when change the code inner a .php file or text inner a .txt file, winscp ask me to reprompt password for to save the file; want a reconnection;
I am not sur but in past if I was connect how SCP there wasnt this ask ;
is so? only with a FTP connection isn't necessary reinsert the pw?


2nd question
when i make FTP connection have this error:
Connection failed
Timeout detected
SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_3.9p1

while
SCP and SFTP connection work;
is this a winscp problem (to do some settings )?

Make sure you have Remember password of main session for background transfers enabled.

You are obviously connecting to SSH port (22) instead of FTP port (21).
