Topic "MD5 like folder checking"

I synchronize a lot of backup sets that have thousands of files in dozens of directories. Would it be possible for WINSCP to compare the properties of a remote and local folder to determine if they are different instead of checking every file inside the folders? Kind of like an MD5 checksum on a file?

Note that few servers do support this atm. What is your server?
